David McEwan

David McEwan, Ph.D., Senior Lecturer in Theology, Pastoral Theology, and Practice; Director of Research and Curriculum Development; Director of the Australasian Centre for Wesleyan Research, Nazarene Theological College (Brisbane, Australia).

Dr McEwan has pastored Nazarene churches in Scotland, England, and Australia before becoming Academic Dean and Lecturer in Theology at Nazarene Theological College, Brisbane, in 1997. In 2008 he became the Director of Research for the college and the Director of the Australasian Centre for Wesleyan Research. He has taught at Kingsley College (Melbourne), Ridley College (Melbourne), Northwest Nazarene University (USA), and is a sessional lecturer at South Pacific Nazarene Theological College (Solomon Islands and Vanuatu), Melanesia Nazarene Bible College (Papua New Guinea), Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (Philippines), and Nazarene Theological College (Manchester). His Ph.D. thesis, forthcoming from Paternoster Press under the title Wesley as a Pastoral Theologian, focused on John Wesley’s theological methodology in pastoral practice.

His current research interests are: Wesleyan ecclesiology and its implications for worship and mission; articulating the doctrine of Christian Perfection for today; Wesleyan theological method and its implications/application for pastoral ministry and spiritual formation.
