David McEwan

David McEwan, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Theology, Pastoral Theology, and Practice; Director of Research and Curriculum Development; Nazarene Theological College (Brisbane, Australia).

Dr McEwan has pastored Nazarene churches in Scotland, England, and Australia before becoming Academic Dean and Lecturer in Theology at Nazarene Theological College, Brisbane, in 1997. In 2008 he became the Director of Research for the college and the Director of the Australasian Centre for Wesleyan Research a role he filled until 2016. He has taught at Kingsley College (Melbourne), Ridley College (Melbourne), Northwest Nazarene University (USA), and is a sessional lecturer at South Pacific Nazarene Theological College (Solomon Islands and Vanuatu), Melanesia Nazarene Bible College (Papua New Guinea), Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (Philippines), and Nazarene Theological College (Manchester).

He is the author of The Life of God in the Soul: The Integration of Love, Holiness and Happiness in the Thought of John Wesley Milton Keynes: Paternoster, 2015 and Wesley as a Pastoral Theologian: Theological Methodology in John Wesley’s Doctrine of Christian Perfection (Paternoster, 2011), focused on John Wesley’s theological methodology in pastoral practice.

His current research interests are: Wesleyan ecclesiology and its implications for worship and mission; articulating the doctrine of Christian Perfection for today; Wesleyan theological method and its implications/application for pastoral ministry and spiritual formation.
