What We Do

  • Highlight the resources of the ACWR and its affiliated research centres.
  • Collect Wesleyan resources and make them available to researchers, including the development of electronic databases and links.
  • Attract and support research students working at the Sydney College of Divinity or other accredited higher education providers on subjects related to the Centre’s purpose.
  • Give scholars from accredited institutions the chance to conduct research in areas linked to the Centre’s purpose.
  • Provide a means of linking leading scholars from accredited institutions.
  • Offer study space and a focal point for scholars from accredited institutions who want to take advantage of the resources available in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
  • Develop, oversee and co-ordinate significant scholarly events to enhance the work of the Centre and disseminate the results of ACWR research.
  • Publish Aldersgate Papers, which is the official scholarly journal of the ACWR. It is a peer reviewed journal which publishes the research of Fellows and other related material. The Journal is co-sponsored by Nazarene Theological College (Church of the Nazarene), Kingsley Australia (Wesleyan Methodist), and Booth College (Salvation Army).
  • The ACWR organises an annual conference each August featuring a leading international scholar in the field of Wesleyan Studies, as well as papers from the Members and Research Fellows of the Centre.
